A delightful one-pot meal with savory chicken sausage, tender broccoli, and orzo simmered in flavorful broth and topped with Parmesan.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Cook the chicken sausage in a large skillet until browned, then remove and set aside.
2. Sauté the garlic and onion in the same skillet until fragrant.
3. Add the broccoli florets and cook until slightly tender.
4. Stir in the orzo and chicken broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
5. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender.
6. Return the sausage to the skillet and stir to combine.
7. Top with Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
Notes
For extra creaminess, stir in a splash of cream or a pat of butter. Use spicy chicken sausage for more heat.
