Description
A quick and easy no-bake dessert made with angel food cake, strawberries, cream cheese, and Cool Whip—perfect for picnics, BBQs, and family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 (14 ounce) Angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 (16 ounce) Cool Whip, thawed
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 (3 ounce) strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup water
Instructions
1. Place water, 1/2 cup of sugar, cornstarch, and strawberry Jell-O in a small saucepan. Whisk until cornstarch is dissolved.
2. Heat over medium heat until the glaze thickens and becomes clear.
3. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly, then stir in sliced strawberries.
4. Cut angel food cake into 1-inch pieces and toss with 2 cups of the Cool Whip. Press the mixture into a 9×13 inch glass pan.
5. Beat cream cheese with the remaining 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla until smooth.
6. Stir in the remaining Cool Whip and spread evenly over the cake layer.
7. Pour the cooled strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer, spreading it evenly.
8. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours before serving.
Notes
You may substitute a 16 ounce bag of frozen whole strawberries, thawed and chopped, for the fresh strawberries.
This dessert is best served chilled and can be made a day ahead for convenience.
