Description

These slow cooker BBQ chicken legs are tender, juicy, and coated in a sticky, smoky-sweet BBQ glaze. A no-fuss dinner for busy nights!


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cajun seasoning
  • 0.33 cup honey
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce, divided

Instructions

1. Mix brown sugar, black pepper, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and cajun seasoning in a small bowl.

2. Pat the chicken legs dry with paper towels.

3. Rub the spice mix evenly all over the chicken legs to coat thoroughly.

4. Place the chicken legs in the slow cooker in as even a layer as possible.

5. Drizzle honey over the drumsticks.

6. Pour 1 ½ cups of the BBQ sauce over the chicken legs in the slow cooker.

7. Cover and cook on LOW for 5-6 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours until tender.

8. Preheat your broiler on high and line a baking sheet with foil.

9. Transfer the cooked chicken legs to the baking sheet and brush with the remaining ½ cup of BBQ sauce.

10. Broil for 2-3 minutes until caramelized. Watch carefully to avoid burning.


Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container up to 3 days in the fridge or freeze up to 3 months. Reheat gently on low heat. Switch up the spice blend or add hot sauce for a kick!
