Description

A quick and easy Korean-inspired beef bowl that tastes like classic bulgogi and comes together in just 15 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and ground ginger.

2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 1 minute.

3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 3–5 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.

4. Stir in the soy sauce mixture and green onions. Simmer until heated through and well combined, about 2 minutes.

5. Serve immediately, garnished with additional green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Serve over steamed white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice.

For extra heat, add more red pepper flakes or a drizzle of gochujang.

Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
